We grow acres and acres of jack-o-lantern pumpkins in all sizes and shapes, along with lots of mini pumpkins. Most people, especially kids, prefer to pick their own pumpkins, so we leave most of them in the fields and only pick a few for sale up front at the market.
Plan to spend plenty of time picking jack-o-lanterns. Any little kid will tell you it’s important to check out about a hundred pumpkins in the field before making a selection! The pumpkins are sold by the pound, and some parents choose to limit their children to the largest pumpkin the child can carry. We at Whittier Fruit Farm feel that this is cruel. However, we trust your parental discretion. Our big pumpkin field is through the woods north of the orchard. Wagons take pumpkin pickers out, and more importantly, bring them and their orange booty back.
Wagon rides to the Secret Pumpkin Patch usually start on the first weekend of October, and run on Saturdays and Sundays only.
